Lionel 6-27240 Pere Marquette Double-Door Boxcar with Auto Rack Load – Model Train Junction: Quality Parts and Art Supplies

Originally from the 2008 Volume 1 catalog, this Lionel 27240 Pere Marquette double-door boxcar comes equipped with an auto rack load. Based on a standard AAR design, Lionel 50′ Double-door boxcars are accurate, finely-detailed models of a freight car widely produced in the late steam and early diesel era. On the railroads, the extra length and added side door were especially useful for automobile and furniture loads. Many railroads chose to use a version of the 50′ double-door boxcar, which featured swinging doors at one end of the car to make automobile loading and unloading even easier. This boxcar features die-cast metal trucks and operating couplers, hidden uncoupling tabs, separately applied metal underframe details, opening side doors, and an auto rack load. The gauge of this boxcar is Standard O and measures 14 inches in length. It’s minimum curve radius is O-31.
