During the Depression, it was necessary to combine passenger accommodations, less-than-carload freight and the functions of a caboose in one car. The few passengers who would put up with all of this – riding at the end of a jerky freight train that stopped at every siding – were mostly cattle herders, hence the nickname Drover`s Caboose. Features include metal wheels with ball bearings, integrated power pick-ups, and a lighted interior and marker lamps.
