Here is a Bachmann 82152 N Scale Norfolk & Western Class J 4-8-4 #608. The Class J 4-8-4 was the last mainline steam locomotive to run in the United States. The popularity of our HO version of this model inspired us to offer this newly tooled locomotive to N scale modelers. Features include a plastic boiler, underframe, and tender frame, precision motor, separately applied detail parts and laser-cut exterior detailing, die-cast fine scale driver spokes and dummy knuckle couplers. It comes DC-ready but does not have a decoder installed. This locomotive performs best on E-Z Track curves with a minimum radius of 19 inches.
First introduced in the early 20th century, the 4-8-4 to rail yards by storm primarily hauling coal and other forms of freight across state lines in the US and rail-ways in various other countries. While later models would improve on the 4-8-4’s limitation, this locomotive still made its place in history as a pioneer of 20th century rail-road industry, and is featured in some museums today as a testament to how far the industry has truly come!
